Ook in de omgeving van Sero Alejandro bevindt zich deze historische woning, gebouwd rond 1906 voor Conrado van der Linde. Opmerkelijk is dat het huis in hetzelfde jaar werd gebouwd als de woning van Carlito De Cuba op Sero Alejandro 33. Beide mannen waren goede vrienden, hadden landbouwgronden dicht bij elkaar en besloten hun huizen naast elkaar te bouwen.

Wat deze locatie bijzonder maakt, is de originele aloëoven die zich achter het huis bevindt. Vanuit deze plek werd vroeger grote hoeveelheden aloë verwerkt en geëxporteerd. De omliggende cunucu’s stonden vol met aloëplanten. In het begin van de twintigste eeuw behoorde aloë tot de belangrijkste exportproducten van Aruba en vormde het een winstgevende industrie voor het eiland.

De handel groeide succesvol totdat de internationale aloëmarkt instortte en de aloë-industrie op Aruba geleidelijk tot een einde kwam.

Pief van der Linde, een bekende handelaar en ondernemer, was later eigenaar van Baby Bakery en Baby Rum Shop, gelegen in Pos Chiquito, ten zuiden van de brug die zich vandaag na de rotonde bevindt. Pief groeide uit tot een legendarische figuur binnen de gemeenschap en wordt nog steeds herinnerd als een ondernemer die investeerde in verschillende eigendommen op Aruba.

Bij Sero Alejandro 34 is het bovendien mogelijk om achter het huis een originele aloëoven van dichtbij te bekijken.

Tijdens het bezoek aan Hofi Aloë zullen er ook activiteiten en presentaties plaatsvinden door Royal Aruba Aloë, zodat bezoekers meer kunnen ontdekken over de rijke geschiedenis van de aloë-industrie op Aruba.

Located in the area of Sero Alejandro, this historic home was built around 1906 for Conrado van der Linde. Remarkably, the house was constructed in the same year as the neighboring home of Carlito De Cuba at Sero Alejandro 33. The two men were close friends, owned farmland near one another, and decided to build their homes side by side.

What makes this location especially unique is the original aloe furnace located behind the house. Large quantities of aloe were once processed and exported from this site, while the surrounding cunucu lands were filled with aloe plants. During the early twentieth century, aloe was one of Aruba’s most important export products and represented a highly profitable industry for the island.

The business flourished until the international aloe market declined, eventually bringing Aruba’s aloe industry to an end.

Pief van der Linde, a well-known merchant and entrepreneur, later became the owner of Baby Bakery and Baby Rum Shop, located in Pos Chiquito, south of the bridge situated beyond today’s roundabout. Pief became a legendary figure within the community and is still remembered as an entrepreneur who invested in several properties across Aruba.

At Sero Alejandro 34, visitors also have the opportunity to view an original aloe furnace located behind the house.

During the visit to Hofi Aloë, activities and presentations by Royal Aruba Aloë will also take place, offering visitors the chance to learn more about the rich history of Aruba’s aloë industry.
